Minimum Standards for Boarding – Training

_______ Basic Manners (2 weeks):

Your dog will be able to do the following things –

Sit (on verbal command with hand cue from 3 feet away)

Down (on verbal command with hand cue from 3 feet away)

Leave it (walking past an item within 3 feet of it)

Walk on Loose Leash (dog within 3-4 feet, within the “cone” around the handler)

Sit-Stay (30 seconds @ 6 feet from dog)

Down-Stay (1 minute @ 6 feet from dog)

________ Advanced Manners (+4 weeks):

Your dog will be able to do the following things – Previous, plus:

Come from 10 feet on lead

Sit at door and wait for you to walk through

Walk nicely through a crowd

Sit-stay (1 minute @ 6 feet from dog, with distraction)

Down-stay (3 minutes @ 6 feet from the dog, with distraction)

_________Beginning Competition Level Skills (+4-6 weeks):

Your dog will be able to do the following things – previous, plus:

Beginning Heeling, on leash, with pace changes, turns, and halts

Stand (on verbal command and with hand cue from 3 feet away)

Recall to front position from 50 feet away

_________Advanced Competition Level Skills (+6-8 weeks):

Your dog will be able to do the following things – previous, plus:

Off leash heeling in an AKC CD pattern

Begin Sit in motion

Begin down in motion

Recall from 50 feet away with distractions within 6 feet of dog
